DiY Leopard Print Hair
I am subscribed to this awesome woman called trashtastika on youtube and today she uploaded this awesome leopard print hair that I just had to share with all of you. I know I will end up sporting this look at some point and time but until then I hope you all enjoy her video!

Halloween Decorations
Regardless of whether or not you plan on having a Halloween Party at your place this year, decorating for Halloween seems to me to be a total must! so here are a few ideas for your Haunted Halloween House this year.
This is my favorite idea for room decor- what says creepy more than an unlived in house? Such an easy thing to do, cover your furniture with white sheets for that creepy ghost house look.
Another look can be the over-lived in. Complete with dusty books, stuffed owls, scientific drawings of rats, ravens and bats and threadbare furnishings and drapes.
Displays of clear jars with snakes, ravens, bats and spiders is always a great way to go.
Centerpieces
Stairways, windows and doors
Lighting
I love this so much, I want it so bad it's not even funny. There's a tutorial on Instructables.com on how to do this from scratch. But I think a simpler way to do it would be to get a werewolf halloween mask- fill it with expanding foam and mount it to a wooden plaque.
After Dracula was written, the fear of Vampires was so strong with the upper class that the fashionable European traveler never left home without one of these- a Vampire Hunting Kit. I plan on making one of these also.
For additional protection, a 'In Case of Zombies' ax may be needed.
And just because you may need an extra hand with all of this work.
And to make sure you don't forget when Halloween is.

Pom Pom Owl
Possibly the most fashionable icon right now is the owl. You see it in everything from, sweaters, watches, handbags and hats. I have to admit, I was inspired.
So I made an owl out of pom poms. It's my small way of being apart of the fad.
To make your pom poms cut out two cardboard circles with smaller circles inside of them.
Place your two pieces of cardboard together and wrap your yarn around the two pieces. (I found it easiest to do this if you make a little cardboard spool for your yarn)
Wrap yarn around your circles 2-3 times until full.
Using your scissors cut your yarn along the outside edge of your circle.
Cut a piece of yarn and slip it between your two pieces of cardboard. Tie a tight knot between the two pieces.
Slip your two pieces of cardboard out and you should have a pom pom.
Make a second smaller pom pom for the head of your owl.
With some scrap fabric or felt cut out two little wing shapes.
Using the extra length of string from when you tied your pom poms, tie the two pieces together to make a head and a body. I used the extra length to also make a little bow tie. With your hot glue gun glue your wings between your head and body and your head and body together.
Use felt to make eyes and a beak and hot glue them on to the front of your owl creating it's face and you are done!

How to Clean and Maintain your Sewing Machine
I thought I would do a quick How-To on cleaning and caring for your machine because it seems not everyone knows how to do this.
I had been sewing with knits the day I did this so you can very clearly see how dirty my machine is.
So the first and very important thing to do is to make sure your machine is unplugged before doing ANYTHING!
Next clean your feed dogs. My machine came with a little brush for this, but if yours didn't, you can use a clean dry toothbrush with the same result. It also might be a good time to wipe off any dust that has gotten around your needle.
Next you want to open your bobbin case and remove it's inner-workings.
Wipe these parts down with a soft cloth. Good use for old scrap material lying around.
Use an air duster to remove dust on the inside of your machine.
Wipe any left over dust off with your cloth.
If you haven't bought any yet, go to the store and buy machine oil! It's important stuff. You should always follow your machine's manuel when oiling your machine. If you don't have one I suggest two drops at the center of your bobbin caseing. You shouldn't need more than 2 drops.
Put all your parts back in order and you are done!
Remember to get your machine serviced every year and if you are a heavy sewer, then you should have your machine serviced once every six months. Happy sewing!
