Diy Sweater Shorts Tutorial

Start with a sweater that is too big for you- something with a pattern or texture to it is best as it's way more fun!




Next get a pair of shorts or pants that you can slip on and off without any elastic or buttons or zippers or anything.

Fold them in half and lay them on your sweater so that the inseam is in the center.




Trace around your shorts and cut out the pattern. Use the first piece you cut out and use it to cut out the second piece. You should have two pieces like this.




Open up your two pieces so that they look like this and sew down the curve line.



If you don't have a serger use a straight stitch, then interlock your seams using a zig zag stitch along the edge. Remember that the thicker your fabric is the longer your stitch length should be.



Next sew your legs shut- start at the center crotch and work to the end.




Cut out two rectangle pieces the width of your shorts by 4 inches. Sew the two pieces together. (This will be your waist band)



Fold your tube in half width-wise and sew to your shorts.







And you're done!

Gaudy Rose Shoes

I love shoes. Shoes are my major fetish in life.So I love the idea that I can take some really old... like from 8 years ago shoes and turn them into something new.So I have to admit, these shoes I made are pretty horrible and something you'd probably only wear in extreme moments but I love em anyway so here we go.

Inspiration shoes (way cuter than mine but oh well)



So here are the shoes I started out with. Pretty horrible right?



So you're going to need, fabric roses, ribbon, lace, a glue gun, needle and thread and of course your shoes.

You're going to start by gluing your first layer of lace down. Like so;



Repeat with a second layer of lace.



Next try your shoes on and decide how long you will need to cut your ribbon. Make sure to give extra length to sew your ribbon around your strap. Burn or fray check the ends of your ribbon so that you don't have to deal with fraying. Then sew your ribbon on your straps.



Ok now try your shoes on again and make sure you have as much ribbon as you need. I had a little more so I cut off the extra. I then glued down the strap to the center of my shoe.



Last I trimmed any excess stem from my roses and hot glued them on my ribbon and voila!

Easy Peasy H&M inspired Dress

So while browsing the forums at Threadbanger I saw this awesome sauce dress that someone wanted to know how to make.



It was by H&M and was being sold on ebay. The measurements provided were 60" bust and 38" long. I decided this would be an easy piece of work.


To start off with you're going to need your fabric of choice- the great thing about this dress is you can use any type of fabric you like and it will work.

I used a non-stretch cotton.

Lay your fabric folded in half as such.(The Pink/Red line is where your folds should be)



Fold in half again this time folding it the new long way.



Now you are going to need a long-sleeved shirt. Lay this shirt folded in half along the new fold.



Cut where your head hole should be. Since my material isn't a stretch material I went back and cut my hole a bit larger than what you see in the picture.



Next you are going to lay your sleeves along the top of your fabric.



Now here is where it gets a bit tricky because you have to measure how far in you cut your sleeves. The original dress had a bust of 60" and I have a bust measurement of 33" so the 60" bust worked for me. With that in mind your dress should be 30" wide on the front and 30" wide on the back and since my fabric and yours should be folded in half that makes for a 15" front. This left me with about 5" for my sleeves.




I lay my measuring tape from the center fold to the edge of the fabric and cut to the 15" mark.



From that mark I cut straight down.



The next thing you will do is flip your dress inside out and hem the sleeves and the collar of the neck.

Once that is finished you will sew along the outline of the dress (you will sew along the bright blue lines)



The last thing you will do is hem the bottom of the dress.




Finally the only thing left to do is to belt it and wear it!











I suspect I will go back and add pockets to my dress just for something a bit more whimsical.
